SUMMARY:AIA COTE: Spring into Action with Electrification
DESCRIPTION:Architecture 2030\, the 2030 challenge\, and the AIA 2030 Commitment\, calls for Architects to design net zero buildings by 2030. In urban environments such as the Philadelphia area\, we must not only design and renovate\, new and existing buildings to this standard\, but also electrify them. Urban buildings\, especially high rises\, and their supporting infrastructure\, will need a clean electricity grid to ensure that the built environment will reach our goals. \nWe will be joined by three expert presenters on Electrification. Russell Unger\, Principal at the Rocky Mountain Institute\, Co-leader of the Building Electrification Initiatives; Christina Simeone\, Senior Fellow with the University of Pennsylvania Kleinman Center for Energy Policy and Researcher at NREL; and Matt O’Malley\, former Boston City Council President and current Chief Sustainability Officer for Vicinity Energy. \n
