DESCRIPTION:PEA’s Solar Manager\, Laura Rigell will be speaking at USDN’s Renewable Energy Learning Group for their January webinar titled “Expanding Impact through Municipal Energy Authorities”. This event is not open to the public. \n\nIn order to most effectively pursue their renewable energy goals\, certain cities have chosen to create municipal energy authorities. These independent and standalone entities are often entrusted with the development\, facilitation\, and/or financing of energy projects serving not only the city government itself but also local institutions\, businesses\, and residents\, thereby broadening city hall’s reach and impact. This month\, we feature Laura Rigell\, Solar Manager at the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA)\, which has created more than 1\,000 jobs and facilitated over $100 million in projects through one of its initiatives. Laura will discuss PEA’s trajectory so far as well as measures it has taken to support local jobs\, such as by including local job creation as a criterion in its 2017 power purchase agreement. \n
