Compensation: $65,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Term: September 1, 2024-August 31, 2026. Continuation of the position is dependent on grant funding.

About Energy Coordinating Agency

Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to help people conserve energy and to promote a sustainable and socially equitable energy future for all. Since 1984, ECA has led the design and implementation of high-quality energy conservation, education, and home repair initiatives to eliminate energy burden and stabilize low-income families in their homes and communities. Our Community Programs department manages 16 Neighborhood Energy Centers (NECs) in Philadelphia as one-stop-shops for community energy education. The NECs provides energy counseling, budget counseling, and utility bill payment assistance to 6,000 families annually; and conducts do-it-yourself weatherization workshops for approximately 2,000 families annually.

Position Description

ECA, in partnership with the Philadelphia Office of Sustainability (OOS), is seeking a midsenior level professional to join our team as a Community Engagement Coordinator. Your role will be to help design, develop, and implement an outreach campaign for the launch of our Mobile Energy Center (MEC) with a focus on the Northeast section of Philadelphia, where low-income families in need of energy services have been displaced to by aggressive gentrification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cultivate partnerships with a variety of community – based organizations.
  • Attend community events (in-person and online) as an ECA collaborative representative.
  • Identify agencies, organizations, partners, and stakeholders who would benefit from understanding the work of the NECs to conduct presentations, both in-person and utilizing online platforms. Manage and coordinate invitations and scheduling.
  • Engage in outreach and communication with the NECs, ensuring timely communication of information and materials.
  • Conduct site visits at the NECs as requested and as needed.
  • Coordinate events with the NECs and community partners as needed.
  • Conduct various surveys to engage clients about the work of the NECs.
  • Increase visibility and understanding of the services the NECs provide to ensure families are receiving all the services they are eligible for to remain safe and warm in their homes.

Reporting

  • Assist with the preparation of various tracking reports and impact summaries of the outreach and engagement activities.
  • Establish and record the chart of work of our outreach and engagement.
  • Prepare a monthly staff report for presentation at team meetings.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience with outreach and community engagement.
  • Experience with multiple outreach methods including, but not limited to, social media, email marketing, newsletters, blog writing, press marketing, and event planning.
  • Excellent communication skills for a variety of audiences, both written and verbal, with the ability to create written marketing materials for a variety of communication platforms.
  • Ability to attend functions/activities outside of normal business hours.
  • Maintain valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of racial justice and equitable engagement principles.
  • Experience working with historically excluded communities, experience working with these communities in Philadelphia is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of residential energy and clean energy
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish); or proficiency in a language other than English.

Thes salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience. ECA provides health and dental coverage, paid holidays, and a 403(b) plan with employer matching, among other benefits.
