Salary Grade: T28

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director for Utilities and Energy Management, the Energy Manager is the principal individual responsible for the development and implementation of Temple University’s energy programs. The individual in this position develops and coordinates all functions relating to the procurement and consumption of utilities and leads the campus energy conservation program to support the University’s Climate Action Plan. This individual will also develop strategies to embed principles of sustainability in the areas of energy management and conservation and lead the University’s efforts to ensure cost-effective utilization of energy. The Campus Energy Manager will be a key player in promoting Temple’s energy goals.  This individual oversees and analyzes all energy use on campus, ensuring all energy systems operate at their optimal efficiency. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

*Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.

*A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with the development, implementation, and maintenance of successful energy management programs.

*Certified Energy Manager/LEED AP or other relevant accreditation/certification required.

*An equivalent combination and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:

*Requires strong leadership, problem-solving, team building, communication, and customer service skills.

*Ability to work with a variety of disciplines and levels of staff required.

*Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical design drawings, specifications, and engineering data for utility systems, equipment, and controls.

*Demonstrated proficiency in personal computer operations, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel or equivalent required.

*Familiarity with boilers, chillers, and other mechanical equipment required.

*Requires a valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle background check.

Preferred:

*Professional Engineer (PE) License

*Knowledge of Facility Maintenance Management Systems, specifically AssetWorks (AiM) preferred.
