Sophia Lee, Board Member

Sophia Lee is an executive leader, trusted advisor, attorney and educator, whose professional and legal experience spans non-profit, higher education, Am Law 100 law firm, and corporate settings. She advises businesses and organizations in strategic pursuit of mission-driven goals and objectives. Sophia also holds an appointment as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, where she teaches courses on matters related to inclusion and the legal profession.

Recently, Sophia served as the Chief Administrative and Engagement Officer for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, where she was responsible for strategic leadership over several portfolios including legal and risk management, human resources and talent management, property management, and governance. Sophia also served as Chief of Staff and Interim Senior Vice President for Engagement at Temple University, where she oversaw daily university operations and worked closely with members of Temple’s administration to help lead and implement strategic initiatives across the university. 

Previously, Sophia was a Litigation Partner in the Energy, Environment, and Mass Torts Practice Group at Blank Rome LLP, where she handled complex litigation and regulatory matters for a wide range of institutions, including governmental, nonprofit, and corporate entities. She also helped lead Blank Rome’s service capabilities in environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) matters, advising clients on business-aligned and holistic approaches to advancing ESG objectives within their organizations. Additionally, Sophia served as Blank Rome’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, leading and implementing inclusion initiatives and programs across the firm’s national footprint.

Sophia has held prior legal roles as chief counsel at Sunoco, Inc.; associate at Reed Smith LLP; federal judicial law clerk to the late Honorable James McGirr Kelly, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania; and associate at Blank Rome.

A life-long Philadelphian, Sophia is actively engaged in its civic and charitable communities. She has significant experience on the boards of nonprofit and professional organizations, including an appointment to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Justice Advisory Board. She has been recognized by, among others, The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Business Journal and The Legal Intelligencer for her achievements in the legal profession and for her pro bono service.

Sophia received her B.A., with distinction, from Cornell University and her J.D. and LL.M. in Trial Advocacy, with honors, from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law, where she was a member of the Temple Law Review and the Moot Court Honor Society.
