The Philadelphia Energy Authority delivered a coordinated whole-home repair by braiding multiple repair program services and layering electrification and rooftop solar to make the home stable, safe, healthy, and affordable. One of the critical challenges cities like Philadelphia face in achieving their carbon reduction goals is retrofitting and updating existing properties to meet both energy performance and emissions goals. The consensus among practitioners striving to meet carbon reduction targets is that cities must take action to electrify the fossil fuel systems in their existing building stock to the greatest extent possible as part of this process.
