The Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) will hold a press conference to kick off the third annual Philadelphia Solar Week.

During the press conference, PEA will also announce the launch of Phase 5 of Solarize Philly, a citywide program to help all Philadelphians go solar. The results of the first four Solarize Philly phases have put Philadelphia in the national spotlight for solar growth. Since the program’s launch in 2017, nearly 6,500 Philadelphia homeowners have expressed interest in the program, over 750 homes have gone solar (including 50 LMI households), and over $12 million has been invested in communities across the city. Solarize Philly is the largest initiative of its kind in the country.

About Solar Week 2021

PEA has a full schedule of events planned from August 16th to 20th, including a webinar series, career panel, PECO collaborative meeting for solar developers, and solar art and story competition. These events will play an instrumental role in generating community excitement to encourage more people to go solar and expand Philadelphia’s clean energy economy. The events will put a spotlight on themes including using solar as a tool to rebuild the economy, job creation and building a diverse workforce.
