Join Green Building United, AIA Philadelphia, and ULI Philadelphia as they jointly host an overview of energy code changes in PA.

Building codes ensure that our buildings are safe, energy efficient, and resilient.

Pennsylvania is nearly a decade behind in its adoption of modern building codes. To address this growing concern, the Pennsylvania State Legislature passed into law Act 36 of 2017 to amend the code adoption process and bring sweeping code modernization to Pennsylvania in 2018. This is especially important where energy codes are concerned, as new construction and renovations in Pennsylvania are at least 30% less energy efficient than buildings held to the latest triennial code standard.

As such, this event will highlight key energy code changes in 2015/2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and ASHRAE 90.1 2013/2016. The event will also outline the amended code adoption process in Pennsylvania under Act 36 of 2017, including Philadelphia’s one-time opportunity to adopt 2018 commercial codes.
