Workforce Initiatives
PEA workforce development programs empower participants from underrepresented communities with the knowledge, tools and certifications necessary to thrive in the region’s growing clean energy economy. With a focus on accessibility, mentorship and skill-building, PEA creates equitable pathways into clean energy and sustainability careers.
Job Training Programs
Participants in our Green Residential Construction Immersive Training (GRIT) and Bright Solar Futures (BSF) programs are connected to family-sustaining jobs within Greater Philadelphia’s clean energy sector. Recent job placements include roles as weatherization and solar technicians, energy auditors, residential construction specialists, and building tradespeople.
GRIT and BSF prioritize recruitment from marginalized communities. Our wraparound services remove barriers and support soft-skill development, ensuring participants achieve success following program completion.
Employer Services
Workforce development program graduates are trained and certified by well-respected, trusted partner organizations. Participants receive comprehensive industry training in construction, building trade, and energy efficiency best practices. Good Jobs Challenge
PEA in partnership with PhilaWorks is a subrecipient on Southeastern PA’s (SE PA) Good Jobs Challenge. A program of the U.S. Economic Development Administration, GJC created the Coordinated Southeastern PA Workforce Development System to support workforce development within the health care, construction, and energy sectors. PEA serves as the SEPA energy sector lead.
The Coordinated SE PA System is accelerating equitable recovery, driving economic growth, and disrupting chronic intergenerational poverty across the region. GJC is helping to fund PEA’s existing workforce development programs and expand them to the SE PA region.
As part of the Good Jobs Challenge, PEA is partnered with Philadelphia OIC to expand OIC’s Green Jobs Program. The tuition-free, customized job training program provides no-cost solar and green jobs training programs for adults throughout Greater Philadelphia.
