Reports to:

Executive Director

Responsibilities:

1. Conducts 3-4 in-person Teacher Trainings, for the Junior Solar Sprint program ; works closely with the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association’s Trainer and volunteers, to provide and assist in the trainings. The trainings usually take place on Saturday mornings between October and February.

2. Provides additional training and technical assistance to teachers as needed.

3. Conducts outreach to schools and educational programs across the region to build participation in the Junior Solar Sprint.

4. Coordinates the annual Junior Solar Sprint in partnership with Drexel University; works closely with the Executive Director and key volunteers to organize and host this model solar car race. The Sprint takes place on a Saturday morning in late May, usually on Drexel University’s campus.

5. Assists with Fundraising, supporting the Executive Director. This may include grant writing and solicitation of corporations as well as fundraising from individuals.

6. Assists with other Program implementation duties as needed.

Qualifications:

BA Degree; Teaching experience in STEM subjects, preferably at the middle school level; Strong communications skills, both written and verbal; Strong organizational and computer skills; Good basic understanding of solar energy; Team player; and strong work ethic.

Time estimate:

200 hours, with approximately 100 hours devoted to fundraising. Part-time position with flexible work hours.
