ESG Assurance Senior Assessor (Assessor Level)

ERM Certification and Verification Services (ERM CVS), a rapidly growing global Business Unit within ERM Group, is seeking a motivated ESG Assurance Senior Assessor to lead assurance engagements with multinational clients across a range of sectors. As the business community has embraced the importance of climate and broader sustainability strategy and commitments, the importance of disclosing third-party verified data has significantly increased.

We are looking to add an enthusiastic ESG Assurance Senior Assessor to our EMEA/NA based Corporate Assurance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing 3rd party assurance of GHG/ESG information with multinational clients across a wide range of sectors.

We will consider applications from candidates with at least a degree level education in a sustainability or audit related field. 2-4 years experience with and/or understanding of assurance principles and procedures, subject matter experience in GHG/ESG information and data, and knowledge of climate change and sustainability reporting is required. The successful candidate must have an intermediate ability in data and spreadsheet analysis (use of Microsoft Excel).

MAIN AREAS OF INVOLVEMENT:

  • Support Project Managers with day to day delivery of 3rd party assurance of GHG/ESG information engagements.
  • Take responsibility for performing assurance procedures across a range of projects including media research, analytical data review, evidence collection, site visits and disclosure review, under the guidance of project managers.
  • Maintain and monitor documentation and project files in line with independent assurance standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Support more senior colleagues during client head office and site level visits, and occasionally act in the lead assessor role under the guidance of a more senior colleague.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate must have proven ability in data and spreadsheet analysis (use of Microsoft Excel) and able to communicate confidently and professionally verbally and in writing. In addition, candidates will ideally demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to support, manage, and plan tasks across multiple projects in parallel to meet client expectations and delivery deadlines with occasional responsibilities for supporting more junior colleagues in completion of the same.
  • A willingness and ability to learn quickly and contribute enthusiastically to our growing business.
  • Be a team player with a high degree of self-motivation acting as a role model to more junior colleagues.
  • A broad interest in sustainability and societal challenges with an understanding of sustainability (business) issues (e.g., governance, environment, health and safety, human rights, supply chain management and community relations.
  • Willingness to travel for visits to client head offices and operational sites, sometimes at short notice (typically concentrated January – May).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sustainability and GHG reporting, for example GRI Standards, GHG Protocol, ISSB, CDP, DJSI, TCFD and SDGs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience of auditing or assurance standards used for sustainability/GHG reporting (e.g. ISAE3000, ISAE3410, ISO14064:3, PCAOB Attestation Standards).
  • Technical knowledge of environmental impacts and emissions including climate change and GHG.
  • Demonstrable experience of being client facing with an appreciation for maintaining and developing client relationships.
  • Experience of onboarding new joiners and supporting the technical development of more junior staff.
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting business development through involvement in preparing proposals / pitches to clients.
  • Willingness to participate in, and ability to actively contribute to, existing technical communities across ERM where relevant.
  • Awareness of the changing landscape and drivers for corporate assurance services.
