Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to help people conserve energy and to promote a sustainable and socially equitable energy future for all. Since 1984, ECA has led the design and implementation of high-quality energy conservation, education, and home repair initiatives to eliminate energy burden and stabilize low-income families in their homes and communities.

Position Description

ECA is looking to hire an experienced and BPI-certified Home Energy Auditor / Quality Control Inspector. ECA will consider experienced individuals lacking certifications, provided they are willing to pursue certification through ECA’s Training Center. As an Energy Auditor/Quality Control Inspector, you will conduct home energy audits and inspections, capturing all relevant data and uploading it into the funder-provided modeling software. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a high-volume environment. All tools and equipment, including company uniforms and a vehicle, shall be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Educate residents about how to save energy in their home
  • Follow all WAP and BPI protocol and program guidelines and use diagnostic equipment, including a blower door, manometer, and combustion analyzer, to complete a comprehensive home energy audit.
  • Diagnose heater units for efficiency, health, and safety.
  • Install energy-saving methods such as thermostats, water heater wraps, pipe wraps, shower heads, low-flow aerators, and high-efficiency lighting.
  • Input audit/ inspection data into program software.
  • Generate work orders according to program specifications
  • Maintain supplies and equipment
  • Audits, Proposals, and Final Inspections must follow program guidelines.
  • Meet production and quality assurance goals
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • BPI Building Analyst-Technician/ Energy Auditor / Quality Control Inspector certification(s) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of building science principles and basic construction
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrate basic verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional interactions with clients

Work Experience

  • Previous work experience in weatherization required.
  • An aptitude for math and science and the ability to use hand tools and ladders and operate vehicles safely is essential.
  • Capable of accurately measuring square footage, volume, windows, and doors.
  • Ability to Lift and Carry up to 50lbs, bend, crawl and kneel

ECA works throughout the city of Philadelphia (106 W Clearfield Street Philadelphia, PA 19133) and the state of Delaware (260 Chapman Rd, Suite 103 Newark, DE 19702). We have positions available at both locations, so please make it clear in your application which location you would prefer.

The salary range for this position is $30-$35 per hour, commensurate with experience. ECA provides health and dental coverage, paid holidays, and a 403(b) plan with employer matching, among other benefits.
