The City of Philadelphia, through the Office of Technology and Innovation, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a comprehensive and strategic Smart Cities roadmap. This roadmap will guide the city in its efforts to develop and utilize interconnected information, communication, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to strengthen its ability to serve Philadelphia’s residents and businesses.
In February, Philadelphia was one of five cities awarded a Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenge grant for its potential to use technology to solve citywide problems. The City has already made investments to support growth in technology while adopting innovation as a core value. As the City moves forward in using technology to improve quality of life, environmental stewardship, and economic development, working towards becoming a Smart City is the next step in continuing to strengthen Philadelphia’s functioning.
The qualified vendor or contractor chosen from this RFP will aid in developing Philadelphia’s Smart City potential. Applicants will create a strategic IoT roadmap for the City and consult the City in development and implementation of this roadmap. Applicants should also demonstrate that they are qualified by providing references with supporting documentation. The full RFP with further details and instructions can be found here. The deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. Philadelphia, PA local time on April 28, 2017.
