The Next Wave of Green Jobs in Philly’s Clean Energy Sector

This workshop will discuss opportunities for minority-owned businesses to get involved in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Presenters will discuss how Philly is working to implement the Mayor’s commitment to 100% renewable energy and multiple City plans to reduce greenhouse gases. Representatives of minority-owned businesses will present about their current work and opinions about future opportunities in clean energy. The panelists will share information about the energy efficiency and solar industries, the demand for various types of suppliers and services, and the projected growth in clean energy jobs. This session will include interactive dialog between the panelists and audience.

This event is organized by the Philadelphia Energy Authority, Clean Air Council, the American Association of Blacks in Energy – Philadelphia Chapter, and the Office of Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown.

This event is being held as part of Philadelphia’s 34th annual Minority Enterprise Development week, which has celebrated minority enterprises in the region and efforts to grow minority businesses since 1984. The Philadelphia Office of Economic Opportunity is convening this event series from October 1-5, 2018, with an “Elevate Equity” theme, as part of the National MED Week program designed to convene business leaders, honor outstanding minority business enterprises and advocates, promote business opportunities, and report industry trends.
